Ragging is defined as an act that violates or is perceived as violation of an individual student’s dignity. It is a damaging form of interaction of the seniors in college with the new entrants or juniors. It involves serious abuses or insults (simple or suggestive sexual, sarcastic and even physical), running errands for seniors, and many other complex activities. Ragging is a clear violations of human rights. A National Anti-Ragging Helpline is available to help the victims and take action in cases of ragging whereby complaints can be registered without disclosing the name by the victim, through email at helpline@antiragging.in or through 24-hour toll free phone at 1800-180-5522. Victims may also log on to www.amanmovement.org.
The college has an Anti-Ragging committee to ensure a safe environment in the campus. This anti-ragging squad will curb the menace of ragging and take affidavits by all senior students and their parents taking oath not to indulge in ragging.
