National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969 with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service.
The principle of NSS, "Not Me But You," embodies the core values of democratic living and emphasizes the importance of selfless service. It centres on recognizing the needs and challenges faced by the community and actively engaging them in finding solutions. The philosophy of NSS is deeply rooted in this motto, emphasizing the notion that an individual's welfare is intricately linked to the welfare of society as a whole. Consequently, NSS volunteers are dedicated to working towards the betterment of society and its well-being.
